Abstract

Summary. The purpose of the article is to illustrate how initially, in the Moscow state’s discourse, the question of statehood was understood in a religious context, which inspired the substantiation of the mysticalsacred value of autocracy in particular and the doctrine of “Russian peace” in general. Methodology. In general, the work is performed in the historical and philosophical methodological key. The historical method is used to describe the very structure of the religious part of the ideology of the “Russian world” and describe those aspects of Russia’s imperial geopolitics system that have a significant impact on Ukrainian cultural discourse. Secondly, the historical method of reconstruction was used, which made it possible to reinterpret and re-actualize Feofan Prokopovich, which played an essential role in forming the concept of autocracy. Hermeneutic and lexicographic methods were also used in work. Scientific novelty. According to the author, the basis of the project “Russian world” was laid in the 13–14 century, and the catalysis of the idea of the metaphysical embodiment of the sacred divine will in the person of the despot took place during the reign of Peter I, which was attended by Ukrainian philosopher-theologian Feofan Prokopovich. It is emphasized that the formula “Orthodoxy, autocracy, nationality” is not just mythology of the doctrine understudy but reflects its ideological essence, in which the religious structure is relevant only in the political context, to confirm the sanctity of Russian power. The development of the doctrine of “Russian peace” over the centuries has led to the fact that even today, the manipulation of “ορθοδοξία” in favor of Russia’s imperial geopolitics is active both inside and outside, capturing the Ukrainian media field. Conclusions. The appeal to the quasi-religious component of the doctrine of the “Russian world” reveals the ontological foundations of the ideological dimension of this doctrine, which legitimize the catalysis of the idea of the metaphysical embodiment of the sacred divine will result in the person of the leader of “Russian world”. The development of this issue is an essential part of the project of new Ukrainian Russian studies, which would conduct scientific research of the doctrine of “Russian world” and Russia in general as a specific phenomenon.
