Summary. Russia–Ukraine War, has been ongoing between Russia and Ukraine since February 2014, and is in a state of fullscale aggression, posing existential questions to the Ukrainian state. Ukrainians, who heroically defend the country, managed to change the narrative of the world community, to convince leading experts and opinion leaders that Ukraine is capable of winning. The essence of the narrative changed from the idea of preserving statehood to the ideas of reconstruction and post-war development of Ukraine. In the conditions of a socially turbulent society and a crisis state of war, science has a great role, which, thanks to an interdisciplinary approach, is able to conceptualize a project and a plan for the development of Ukraine and to be mediators between the public and the military reality in which they work. The purpose of the article is to investigate the narratives of the world mass media, to analyze the measures taken by scientific societies regarding educational and scientific cooperation with the aggressor country, as well as to warn against possible mistakes when taking into account similar historical experiences. Methodological principles. To obtain the results of the study, a descriptive method was used to reveal the essence of the Western narrative regarding the situation in Ukraine. The comparative-historical method for considering historical examples of designing development plans of countries that have experienced aggression and planning to minimize possible future encroachments by aggressor countries. Comparative analysis when considering the main ideas of leading specialists who investigate the role of science in a dynamic society, especially in conditions of war. Scientific novelty. The author justifies the need to draw attention to the need to involve the scientific community to solve the problems faced by experts when developing a plan for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. The presence in the narrative of the Western mass media of the ideas of the future victory of Ukraine sanctions restrictions on Russia and the termination of scientific cooperation with the aggressor country is emphasized, as possible ways of restoring cooperation in the field of science and education in the hypothetical future are questioned.
