Abstract

Summary. The purpose of the article The article examines the problem of cultural reception as a manifestation of the dialogical pattern of the formation of the historical process. Theку are investigated similarity and difference between dialectics and dialogue of cultures, the advantage and limitations of intercultural dialogue, its dependence on specific historical circumstances on the example of the relationship between ancient Rus and the Byzantine Empire. Methodology. The means of achieving the purpose is the dialectic, since the dialogue has a contradictory character, acting as a negation of the antagonism of the old and the new and the declaration of intercultural parity. Scientific novelty. The article deals with the idea that from the position of a sensual attitude to the historicalcultural process, it is possible to interpret various socio-cultural experiences as equal components of a unified historical action, the end-to-end process of realizing being in historical time. In this sence, they are vectors of the implementation of unique, self-important historical directions and can both oppose each other and be enriched in the process of mutual influence. They find true meaning when they are considered not only in terms the "old/ new" binary, but also from the position of partnership, constructive coexistence based on the principle of the unity of diversity, that is, in the process of dialogue with other cultures. A culture enters into dialogue if another one is perceived by its subjects as equal to it in value, i.e. a container of the spirit completed in its design, as a center of a unique and unique worldview experience. Therefore, in the process of dialogue, a relative objective balance of political, economic, religious, legal, moral and aesthetic forces is preserved, as it happened in the process of establishing relations between ancient Rus and Byzantium, when religious reform was carried out by borrowing foreign traditions and introducing them on the basis of local socio-political relations. Conclusions. The dialogic nature of the relations between ancient Rus and Byzantium was manifested in the possibility of forming a flexible policy based on the creation of synthetic social structures as the embodiment of a real unity of cultures. As a result, ancient Rus was able to become part of Slavia Christiana for a certain time. The fact of Rus's acceptance of Christianity was not a replacement for paganism, but a way of giving Orthodoxy specific features characteristic of the worldview of the Eastern Slavic ethnic groups.
