Abstract

Summary. The purpose of the article is the conceptual analysis of hypotheses about the techno-humanitarian balance of Akop Nazaretyan and Nick Bostrom as a guarantee of modernization of the tradition of philosophy of technology. It is necessary to argue the coherence of technologies and values in the constitution and development of a global civilization worldview. The methodological foundations of this investigation are transhumanism, existentialism, pragmatism, critical rationality, anthropology of technology and postmodern media theory. Scientific novelty. A critical analysis of approaches to the study of technological progress and its impact on the development of society has been explored. Nazaretyan's hypothesis of techno- humanitarian balance emphasizes the dependence of sustainable development of society on the mechanisms of self-regulation. The second approach is due to the international transhuman movement and a new understanding of the essence of man and technology in Nick Bostrom's concept of existential risk. This risk is primarily caused by human ignorance, which must be overcome with the help of new technologies. The ideas of technological alarmism should give way to the rational arguments of transhuman discourse. Technologies don’t alienate a person from the individual, but only spreads his presence in the world. Conclusions. In the current technological postmodern world, the dualistic distinction between technology and man loses its meaning. Techno-humanitarian balance should be considered as an open question of axiological evolution. It is advisable to agree with Bostrom that it is man, not technogenic civilization, who is the cause of existential risk. There are no contradictions between the social system and technological progress. This approach has heuristic potential for modern interdisciplinary research, particularly in the philosophy of technology. At the same time, the general project of social modernization is realized only under the condition that the value consciousness of citizens overcomes conservative frames in favor of rationality.
